Edinburgh Preview: Nick Helm & Rachel Parris

Now in in it’s 6th year The Schadenfreude Cabaret’s Edinburgh Preview Season brings a selection of the finest acts to The Harrison throughout June and July.

The beautiful surroundings of The Basement Bar make the perfect environment to see this summers most innovative, creative and funny shows before they head up to The Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Season has consistently featured in the capital’s ‘must see gigs’. Our regular comedy club is listed by Time Out as one of the Top Ten Free Clubs in London. As always the line up is an eclectic mix with something for everyone. From established TV regulars and award winners to this years hotly tipped rising stars.

The venue regularly packs out so this year you can guarantee a seat to any of our double bills for just £5 or alternatively, just show up on the night and pay what you want at the end of the show.

Nick Helm: Masterworks in Progress ’17

After spending two years in the wilderness, international treasure Nick Helm (Dave’s Best Joke 2011) crawls his way back from the depths of hell to find the world he once loved has turned to piss and shit. Returning to Edinburgh armed with nothing but a heart full of hope and a work-in-progress show, Helm must now topple all the false idols and charlatans from their festering perches to teach the world once more how not to be a total f*cking c*nt. He is your saviour. Act grateful. ‘Genuinely exciting’ ***** (Telegraph). ‘Unique comedy’ (Guardian).

Rachel Parris: Keynote

Rachel (Austentatious, The IT Crowd, Murder in Successville) has been invited to be a guest speaker at her old school, but what kind of a role model is she really? Through stand-up, character and musical comedy, she explores what messed up message she can possibly offer to impressionable young minds. ‘Endearingly frank and funny… tears of laughter’ (Guardian). ‘An uplifting, life-affirming hour’ (List). ‘Brutally funny’ (Skinny).
