An evening with ..
three songwriters, who will share stories and music …
BETTINA SCHROEDER / EUGENE COYNE / JUDE COWAN MONTAGUE
Exploring the potential of her instrument to its fullest, Bettina Schroeder uses found objects, preparations and effects programmes to construct layers of sound that can evoke anything from machine cacophony, to the melancholic wash of waves on the seashore. Recently Bettina has added texts/songs to her repertory and in 2016 joined re-formed group The Beach Bullies (check it out: LP/CD/download) and in 2017 The Containers. She frequently plays at SKRONK, a regular live event and label for improvising performers, who create brand new music through on-the-spot collaboration and improvisation. Since 2012 Bettina is a member of the Jerico Orchestra, a unique group that explores the relationship between improvised music and visual art.
JUDE COWAN MONTAGUE
Jude worked for Reuters Television Archive for ten years. Her album The Leidenfrost Effect (Folkwit Records 2015) reimagines quirky stories from the Reuters Life! feed. She produces and presents ‘The News Agents’ on Resonance 104.4 FM. She’s a poet and most recent book is The Originals (Hesterglock Press, 2017). In 2018/19 she has begun working again on Reuters news feeds and will share some of the more intriguing stories as song improvisations as a tribute to the messengers, those who are risking their lives to bring stories from the frontlines of conflict, disaster, crisis and innovation to the attention of the world.
