A friendly evening of music featuring:
ARMOREL WESTON: A powerful and moving vocalist /guitarist/bass player with a wealth of original songs co written with her late partner , John Gibbens. Armorel has branched out on her own and is performing solo with guitar. The songs are colourfully poetic with catchy rythms and refreshingly unexpected melodies.
STEVE DOWSETT: Has been writing songs and performing on the London acoustic circuit since the early 90s. A great little rocker guitarist, he presents perfect pop songs with intelligent and challenging lyrics. He’s a prolific writer and will be performing songs from his forthcoming album.
THE GILLIES: An Americana influenced, acoustic, alternative folk duo from South London who write haunting songs of love, loss , fate and the complications of tangled relationships. They are Susan Turner on vocals and tenor guitar, and Mark (Gilly) Evans on guitar and dobro. They capture the sounds of bleak landscapes with their guitars creating intricate picking patterns that fall, conflict and harmonize. Susan’s singing brings the meaning of the song to the fore, which is all the more powerful for not being overdone.
