Lost Horizons presents Robin Elliott + support Louis Gilman

The question of the whats and the hows underpins all the things in Robin Elliott’s songs: what is being said, and how?
Hailing from Merseyside, this extraordinary songwriter & performer has been based in London for almost 2 decades & has formulated a depth & variety of material to match his storied life.

He began his musical career writing songs on spec for a TV & film production company, meaning his naturally artsy approach is well tempered by a firm grasp on making material work for audiences. Regardless of the various musical styles inhabited by his recordings, his work retains strong roots in traditional forms of narrative song as well as its more modern iterations from the 60s and 70s forwards. A selection of his film work formed his debut EP, Weapons Antique & Modern, released through the Folkroom label co-founded by contemporary folk guitar hero Ben Walker. The two struck up a lasting friendship, and Walker has acted as producer on all of Robin’s music since.
Two more EPs have followed, 2015’s Green Ginger Wine, whose arrangements found Robin complimented sweetly by a jazz rhythm section and intricate backing vocals, and last year’s At Sunset, with tight focus only on guitar and vocal making for something darker, intimate, stark and warm, which saw him named by For Folk’s Sake as “one of the purest songwriting talents in music today.”

Both were released through Robin’s own Textbook Records, whose site is a burgeoning hub of writing, critical thought and cultural commentary from songwriters and musicians across a variety of disciplines, as well as being, crucially, a source of vital and vibrant new releases.
Robin’s first full-length album, There is a Land, will be released after the summer of 2018.
