New Roots: Steve Dagleish

‘Utterly lovely, an angrier Nick Drake’ – Bob Fischer, BBC Tees & BBC Introducing.

Following sell-out 2017 shows at Green Note and Old Queens Head, Steve Dagleish performs an intimate opener to his 2018 with a set of new songs and audience picks from his first two albums

Inspired by the craftsmanship of songwriters Neil Young, John Martyn & Nick Drake, Hull-born, London-resident Steve Dagleish now performs his original songs, interpretations of ‘trad’ and modern songs, at folk clubs, music venues and festivals.

A second album of original work, ‘Yours for Eternity‘ written ‘on the road’ and recorded in his home ‘studio’, was released at the end of October 2016, following a sold-out London launch and was nominated by FolkWords for ‘Best Album by a Male Artist’.

A successful mini-tour with the wonderful band ‘Ranagri’ in Spring 2017, interspered with sold-out solo concerts was followed by  appearances in the Summer at Lyme Folk Weekend, Cornwall Folk Festival and Dartington.

A third album of original work, an album of songs written by Graeme Miles, mostly based on or around the river Tees and an album of ‘traditional’ folk songs, are all currently in progress. Live dates for 2018 are coming together.

“Steve Dagleish is a wonderful, engaging performer who combines all the skills of the best singer songwriters.”
Trevor Lloyd , Songwriters Circle Radio Show, 10 Radio

“There was a time when I’d say that a big label should snap him up but in the current climate I’d say he was doing well enough by himself.”
Dai Jeffries ‘”

“The essential ‘man with guitar’ album will never go out of style, it’s just that some do it so much better than others. To hear how it should be done listen to ‘Yours for Eternity’ from Steve Dagleish.”
