Three friends sing in harmony, play each others instruments and swap jokes on stage as they launch Saskia Griffiths-Moore’s new album, ‘Strange Rivers’, from the cosy, well known, folk and roots venue, The Harrison, near Kings Cross on Fri Jan 26th from 7:30pm.
With an emphasis on improvisation and creativity, Saskia, a young, London based singer-songwriter, is returning to the venue for the fourth time, bringing her all-star acoustic alt-folk trio featuring Lukas Drinkwater (Emily Barker, Tobias Ben Jacob) and Jack Cookson (BBC R2 Young Folk Award Finalist) for a night of celebration, friendship, music and a limited number of cringeworthy puns.
After launching her third album in London in October and touring it both nationally and internationally, Saskia didn’t skip a beat, and started working on this project. Her newest recording, ‘Strange Rivers’, was crowdfunded in November in three days, and is a testament to her popularity, and the strength of her international fanbase. The CD is a collection of songs that were consistently requested by those fans and recorded specifically for them…Hallelujah, House Of The Rising Sun, May You Never etc. Both Lukas and Jack feature on the album, as well as BBC Radio 2 multi award winning fiddle player, Ciaran Algar.
She will be performing that repertoire as well as her original material, with solo support slots from Lukas Drinkwater and Jack Cookson respectively.
