TOAST is a poetry project dedicated to supporting poets moving beyond the emerging stage. We run workshops, poetry events and discussion panels to create a space for poets to develop their work and hone their craft. We produce great poetry.
London Laureate LAURIE BOLGER was born in London W10. Laurie currently hosts BANG Said the Gun London’s leading stand-up poetry night and multi award winning poetry podcast Round @ Laurie’s. Laurie was lead facilitator for BBC 1Xtra’s Words First and her poetry has appeared on BBC World Service, The Verb and Radio 1. Her debut poetry collection Box Rooms was released by Burning Eye Books showing that poetry can be your friend. www.lauriebolger.com
Ella Frears is a poet and visual artist based in south-east London. She has had poetry published in Poetry London, The Rialto, POEM and the Moth among others and was shortlisted for the Manchester Poetry Prize 2017. She is a trustee and editor for Magma Poetry, and was a Jerwood/Arvon Mentee 2016. Her debut pamphlet Passivity, Electricity, Acclivity is forthcoming with Goldsmiths Press Feb 2018.
Born in Nigeria in 1984, Inua Ellams is an internationally touring poet, playwright, performer, graphic artist & designer. He has published four books of poetry: ‘Candy Coated Unicorns and Converse All Stars’, ‘Thirteen Fairy Negro Tales’ ‘The Wire-Headed Heathen’ and ‘#Afterhours‘. His first play ‘The 14th Tale’ was awarded a Fringe First at the Edinburgh International Theatre Festival and his fourth ‘Barber Shop Chronicles’ sold out its run at England’s National Theatre. He is currently touring ‘An Evening With An Immigrant’. In graphic art & design, online and in print, he tries to mix the old with the new, juxtaposing texture and pigment with flat shades of colour and vector images. He lives and works from London.
