*** SOLD OUT ***
Join us in the Harrison in King’s Cross to celebrate the launch of Upcycled Sounds Record Label, and Jay Sunaway’s debut EP ‘Earth Hum’. With Support from Zander Sharp, Rosie Caldecott and Jack Durtnall, and artwork on sale from Adam Lalák.
Jack Durtnall is a singer-songwriter from London. Playing a blend of acoustic folk. Coming from a broad musical base as a sax player and producer, his solo acoustic material is nevertheless simple and accessible.
Rosie Caldecott is a singer and songwriter born and raised in Oxford, and has been on the underground music scene there for the last 7 years. With influences including Joni Mitchell, Kate Bush, This is the Kit and Laura Marling, Rosie writes believing in honest songwriting. She is writing songs alongside her painting practice as a method of processing what it means to be human. ‘Combining bravely progressive structures with unapologetically poetic folk sensibilities’ (alonelyghostburning.co.uk).
Her debut album ‘Inside Out’ was recorded with Upcycled Sounds and released back in 2014, a single ‘The Swell’ last year and Rosie now looks forward to bringing out her new EP ‘The Lost Gardens’ with Upcycled Sounds this year.
Zander Sharp is better known around the Bristol scene as the fiddle player accompanying Slonk and Kate Stapley. But with almost ten years’ experience songwriting and performing as a solo act – (and with six of those years as a remarkably spotty teen) – Zander has curated a careful selection of honest, softly-spoken songs melding together folk and jazz influences, and usually delivered with typically English self-deprecation.
Jay Sunaway are a London-based alt-folk band, formed in 2014 by musicians from Suffolk, Hull and Germany. With traditional folk instrumentation, post-rock sensibilities, and an ear for close harmonies, they sing songs about the sea, space, and the mysteries of city living.
Tonight’s line up will feature Hannah Jakes on accordion, Will Palmer on bass, Anna Parino on violin, Eddy Spirit on drums and Joseph Woods on guitar.
Their first studio EP ‘Earth Hum’ will be launched on April 6th with Upcycled Sounds.
